Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty

You remember the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme,  Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.  All the kings horsemen, all the kings men, could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again.  Funny, funny, funny.

Have you ever looked at your marriage that way?  It was on a wall so high that everything seemed great!.  Then for some reason or another it took a great fall and appeared as if it could not be put back together.  I know the ……

I know the feeling.  And more accurately, I lived it.  Life can change in an instant and we wonder what happened.  How did it get to that point?  For me, I just did not know how to react, respond and relate.  I guess I fell off the wall and the pieces couldn’t get back together until I decided it was time to make a change within myself.  You see the hanks and pranks of how I was brought up, what I was exposed to and the experiences of life all molded me.  I thought I was in a good place with my marriage.  And then came to realize one day, I needed some self-adjustments.  Once I decided to fix me, everything else got better.

I made a decision that I can get back on that great wall.  I’m holding on this time and will not fall off again.  I don’t need to look for someone else to gaze at me and put their two cents in to attempt to pick up the pieces.    I’m no longer broken.
